For more than 15 years, Fundación GENFAMI has strengthened national and community-based responses to gender-based violence, supporting over 15,000 women and reaching more than 12,500 children and adolescents through rights-based, trauma-informed interventions.

With programs centered on women, girls, and young people, particularly survivors of sexual violence, GENFAMI has implemented initiatives in 88% of Colombia’s departments, combining direct psychosocial support with institutional reform, policy development, and system strengthening.

The Challenge

Gender-based violence continues to affect thousands of women, girls, and children across Colombia, especially in contexts shaped by inequality, migration, and conflict. Survivors often face fragmented systems of care and limited access to comprehensive psychosocial services.

Preventing violence and protecting rights requires coordinated, evidence-based action at both community and national levels.

The Response

GENFAMI combines prevention, research, and institutional strengthening to build safer environments and more responsive systems. Its multidisciplinary team develops national protocols and technical guidelines in partnership with government agencies, UN entities, and international cooperation actors, while also delivering direct psychosocial and rights-based support on the ground.
