Quality Healthcare for Rural and Low-Income Communities in Colombia

In rural Colombia, accessing timely, high-quality medical care can mean traveling for hours, often at a cost families cannot afford. Bive,  Fundación Vive con Bienestar removes these barriers, making healthcare faster, more affordable, and closer to home for those who need it most.

Since 2012, Bive has reached more than 205,000 people, 90% from rural areas, through two main strategies:

• Bive Membership Plan: Low-cost subscriptions giving individuals, families, and even pets access to quality private healthcare and wellness services, cutting wait times from months to days and reducing costs by up to 67%.
• Health Projects and Mobile Clinics: Initiatives that take specialized healthcare directly to rural, Indigenous, and Afro-Colombian communities, removing long-standing barriers to access.

Programs target preventable diseases, cancer screening, oral and eye health, mental health, and cardiovascular care. Highlights include:

• Protégete con Bive: Using AI to detect cervical cancer early and promote HPV vaccination among rural women and youth.
• Mujer Bive tu Salud: Cardiovascular and cancer screenings for women in coffee-growing regions.
• Visión Cafetera: Preventing avoidable blindness in rural coffee farmers.
• Con Bive la Próstata Sí Importa: Early detection of prostate cancer in rural men.

Beyond medical care, Bive empowers communities, trains local health leaders, and produces data to inform public health policies. strengthening community health and reducing illness-related work loss.
