Loren and Pillar Finnell Catalyst Award Recipient, Centro Andino de Educación y Promoción José María Arguedas
At The Resource Foundation’s 2015 Annual Gala, the inaugural Loren and Pillar Finnell Catalyst Award is being presented to Centro Andino de Educación y Promoción “José María Arguedas” (CADEP), a longtime partner of TRF and a participant in the three-year Regional Education and Gender Equity Program.
Centro Andino de Educación y Promoción was founded in 1968 to help low-income, rural families in Peru escape poverty. Over the last 47 years, CADEP has worked in over 43 indigenous communities in the Andean highlands on education, women’s empowerment, water management, farming, and food security programs.
CADEP’s high-impact programs promote the integral development of rural populations thereby creating democratic models of citizenship, production and microenterprise. It builds partnerships among community groups, non-governmental organizations, policy makers and service providers, in order to strengthen their capacity to improve the living conditions of rural communities in the region identifying potential opportunities for development.
