Fundación Eugenio Mendoza (FEM)

Fundación Eugenio Mendoza (FEM) is a nonprofit organization in Venezuela that was founded in 1951. Its mission is to improve the quality of life of Venezuelan families, particularly those who are living in poverty, through social action and educational programs.

FEM focuses on social, educational and business development through diverse programs. Its initiatives include providing microfinance consultation and microloans, facilitating technical assistance, supporting entrepreneurs in launching small businesses, and designing educational experiences that meet the needs of Venezuelan schools. FEM also works to support children and youth in Venezuela by creating opportunities for cultural and artistic expression and for young adults to gain work experience.

FEM’s current projects are focused on:

  • Developing and implementing financial education programs to increase the supply of financial and communications services
  • Supporting small business owners so that they will generate new employment opportunities and contribute to the socio-economic development of their community
  • Providing accessible training with practical tools
  • Effectively using mass media, social networks and technological advancement to advance financial education
