Enseña Chile

Enseña Chile recruits, selects, trains and mentors professionals from diverse fields (both educational and non-educational) to work as teachers for two years in vulnerable schools. These youth — leaders and high-achieving professionals who are motivated by their social sensitivity and interest in education — are prepared to live the experience of teaching in underserved schools. Their mission is to mobilize their students so that they can develop aspirations, motivation, skills and knowledge to expand the opportunities available to them in the future. In turn, the youth leaders gain the conviction and perspective to go on to become agents of change who, through their different areas of expertise, will systematically help ensure that “one day all children in Chile will receive quality education.”

In six years, this program has reached more than 34,000 children at 129 different schools, and over 6,000 professionals have participated.  Currently, 200 professionals are teaching, and Enseña Chile has a growing network of 216 program graduates.

Enseña Chile’s value proposition is centered on bringing the best professionals to the most complex contexts (where the best teachers do not generally end up) to generate a triple impact: on the students, on the institution or school community, and on the young professionals.
