Asociación de Consultores para el Desarrollo de la Pequeña y Mediana Empresa (ACODEP)

The Association of Consultants for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (ACODEP) is a nonprofit organization that is committed to sustainable development in Nicaragua through socially responsible financial services.

ACODEP provides a range of financial services to small and medium businesses, which are often denied credit by larger banks. In 1996, ACODEP created PRODEM (now known as PROINDESA), an initiative that promotes business development, entrepreneurship and environmental awareness. Through this initiative, ACODEP has not only provided skill-building and training to at-risk, low-income populations in Nicaragua but has also contributed to socioeconomic sustainability efforts.

Since its founding, ACODEP has provided microcredit and other financial services to nearly 10,000 people (80 percent of whom are women), resulting in over 21,000 jobs and an 8 percent increase in family incomes. Furthermore, ACODEP’s work has prevented the migration of 592 youth, who have in turn created 111 micro-enterprises with 330 jobs, thanks to a private investment of $350,000.
